Newburyport - Harold M. "Bing" Goodwin Jr., age 74, of Newburyport, died early Wednesday morning, February 27, 2019, at Country Center Nursing Home. He was the loving husband of 56 years to Marilyn S. (Parsons) Goodwin.


"Bing" as he was known by family and friends, was born in Gloucester on May 7, 1944, son of the late Harold M. and Margaret (Karcher) Goodwin and was a graduate of Gloucester High school.


A lifelong truck driver, he had worked for various trucking companies throughout the area.


He was an avid golfer and loved music. He was especially fond of Bing Crosby and that is his how he got his nickname-he was always listening to his music or humming it.


Bing is survived by his wife, Marilyn S. Goodwin; five children, Glenn Goodwin, Kathleen Goodwin, Paul Goodwin and wife Melissa, Christine Szydlo and husband Mike, and William Goodwin; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a sister, Cynthia Quinn; extended family in California; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.



At his request, there will be no visiting hours and burial will be private for the family. Arrangements are by Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport.
