Gloucester - Jaime Amaral Faria, 84, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, in the comfort of his own home.

Jaime was born on December 26, 1941, in Criacao Velha Pico, Azores.

Jaime served in the Portuguese Navy for 4 and a half years. In 1967, he married Maria (Silva) Faria and immigrated to Gloucester, MA where they started their family and raised their three children.

Jaime worked at Gorton's for 35 years and retired at the age of 62. When he wasn't working you could find Jaime in his yard, he took great pride in his flowers and garden. He grew impressive rose bushes but was most well-known for his ability to take a nap anywhere. He was a member of the D.E.S. Club & a parishioner and member of Our Lady of Good Voyage Church.

After his retirement, Jaime and Maria decided to build a home in Pico, Azores, where they split their time between there and Gloucester.

Jaime is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maria C. Faria; his children Jaime Faria, Estela Faria, & Jojo Faria – as well as his two granddaughters Eliana and Santana Faria, all of Gloucester. He is also survived by 3 sisters and 1 brother as well as many in-laws, nephews, nieces.

Jaime and Maria had the privilege of not only raising their own children at 9 Luzitania Ave but helped raise many generations of nieces and nephews there as well. It started with Joe and Danny Silva, later Kyle and Kayla Silva, after that Ryan & Monica Dutra and now as Jaime would say "O Nosso Menino" Martim Serpa, Monica's son.

Jaime is predeceased by his parents, Jaime Faria Lourenco and Maria Conceicao Amaral and other loving family members.

Visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Thursday, July 16, 2026, for 9 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
