Gloucester - James Chin, age 62, of Gloucester, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, August 4, 2019. He was a humorous, hardworking and intelligent man. Born in Brookline in 1957, he was the son of the late James Chin and Joanne Turk. James was raised and educated in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and was a graduate of Gloucester High School, class of 1975. He was the husband of Sheila M. Chin (Haskins) of Gloucester.
He served his country with honor as a member of the United States Navy.
James worked for over 30 years, starting at a very young age, in the printing industry and mastered the art of the press. It became a second language. He took on taxi dispatch and driving as a second job when his kids were young and would later go on to run a business, Lighthouse taxi, alongside son, Adam Chin, in Gloucester, Mass.
James had a second family in the youth sport community throughout the 90s in which his three children were all a part. He became a proud coach to many in both the football and softball leagues and made it a priority to head outside to throw the ball with his sons and daughter whenever possible.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Whitney A. Chin of Gloucester; sons, Adam Chin and wife Courtney of Gloucester and Jason Chin (Jagger Naves) of S.C.; two grandchildren, Nola O. and Peter J. Frontiero; special aunt, Georgette Mitchell of Cambridge, Mass.; beloved cats Brady and Giselle; sister Darlene Aitken; brothers Chris Aitken, Robert Aitken, Shawn Aitken, Wayne Chin, Steven Chin and Scott Chin; several in-laws, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by son Philip Palminteri; aunt Louise Aitken; brothers Adam Aitken, Brian Aitken, and Eric Aitken; and cherished dogs Saigen and Logan.
