Gloucester, MA - James Yancey, 80, passed away on Sept. 23, 2019. Known in Gloucester for his Smokin' Jim's BBQ business, had been an institution on the North Shore for many decades. He had most recently been employed at Beauport Hotel, as Host. Jim is survived by his seven children; James Yancey Jr. (Jamie), James Yancey III (Jay), Juanita Yancey, Ronald Yancey, Gregory Yancey, Lori Adamson, and Christopher Yancey; four grandchildren, Jourdan Porcher, Taylor Yancey, Jackson Yancey and Ronald Yancey Jr. (R.J.); and his great-grandson, Deion Porcher; his beloved Life Partner, Judith Howard and her two children, Bethany Howard and Jeffrey Howard.

I had known Jim for about 35 years. I did a lot of painting of fish images for him for his business and other reasons. We were good friends but, I havn't seen much of him in a few years. SO SORRY to hear of his passing! He was a kind and gentle man! DAMN!
