Santa Fe - Santa Fe - Jean Baer O'Gorman, age 89, died Thursday, September 18, 2025, at her home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, supported by two of her children and a dear friend.

Jean embraced life in all ways. She was the most generous and kind person, and anyone touched by her spirit was blessed. She loved her sons dearly and was always there for them with love and support. She went to sleep, after an amazing life, and now has a well-deserved rest next to her beloved sons, Michael and Christopher in Seaside Cemetery.

Jean grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and was an enthusiastic member of the John Burroughs School class of 1953. She lived much of her life in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and raised her family there, before retiring in Santa Fe, where she made her home for the last 28 years. She was an active member of Temple Ahavat Achim in Gloucester and Congregation Beit Tikva in Santa Fe, throughout her adult life. Jean was a notable photographer. Her photographs of Sever Hall at Harvard University and Devils Tower near Moorcroft, Wyoming, are considered iconic. She loved art, gardens and things of beauty. She was an early adopter with respect to computers and technology. Jean was also passionate about causes dear to her heart, including the rights of native American populations, care for animals and many other political and social issues.

She was preceded in death by her son Michael, her son Christopher, her mother, Agnes Friedman Baer, her father, Harold M. Baer, and her sister, Edith Schiele. She is survived by her son Harold (Kim) O'Gorman and son Samuel O'Gorman, as well as her devoted friends developed throughout her life. All will miss her warmth, determination and generosity.

A memorial service will be held at Temple Ahavat Achim, Gloucester, Massachusetts, on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. eastern time. A private memorial was also held in Santa Fe.
