Jeanne R. Clarke Obituary

Gloucester - Gloucester - Jeanne Clarke, 88, of Gloucester, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 11, 2025.

She was born in Gloucester on June 23, 1937, daughter of the late Joseph and Rita (Trudeau) Veator. She was raised on Portugee Hill.

After graduating and raising her two children, she built, owned and operated the Cape Ann Motor Inn on Long Beach for several years with her former husband, Ralph and later went to work for Varian/Syventive for over 20 years as a Blueprint Coordinator.

Jeanne had a warm, outgoing, kind spirit, and made friends easily wherever she went. She is survived by a close circle of friends who she made sure to call daily, letting them know she was thinking about them, and held them close to her heart. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking, knitting, ceramics, and decorating for the holidays at home and at work.

She is survived by her children, Scott Luongo and his wife Lan "Mimi" and her daughter, Lisa Doucette and her husband James all of Gloucester; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, William Clarke, and former husband, Ralph Luongo, the father of her children, with whom she always remained extremely close until his passing.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Seacoast nursing & Rehab, the Atlantic Shores unit and the staff at Care Dimensions for their kindness, care, and compassion.

In keeping with her wishes, all services will be private. A celebration of life will be held at later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Alzheimer's Research, 320 Nevada Street, Suite 201, Newton, MA 02460 or Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
