Jerre W. Salmon Obituary

Rockport - Jerre W. Salmon passed away peacefully at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, MA. He was born to Audrey and Dick Salmon on June 19, 1933 in Paterson, NJ. His family subsequently moved to Binghamton, NY where he graduated from North High School. From there, Jerre attended Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. He met and married his wife of 70 years, Janet "Jan" Pfromm while she was a student at Cedar Crest College. They wed on November 26, 1955 – 11 days prior to his being drafted into the United States Navy. The couple later settled in the Binghamton, NY area, where they raised their two daughters.

Jerre worked for Binghamton Container Company, Clark Cleveland Company as well as Endicott Forging and Manufacturing Company in the Binghamton area from 1957 to 1984. Jerre and Jan moved to Chicago, IL in 1984. There he worked for Kropp Forge Division from 1984 – 1987. After leaving the Mid-West, the couple headed to sunny Florida. They started their own business venture, Finders Personnel, Inc. in Naples, Florida. In 1989, Jerre went to work in Human Resources for the Collier County Government. He was employed there until his retirement in 1999.

Jerre was an avid tennis player and loved oil painting, needlepoint and gardening.

Jerre lost his beloved wife, Jan, on April 2nd of this year. They were a remarkable and inseparable couple. Jerre is survived by his loving family – daughter Deborah Salmon and her wife, Kerrie Despres of Rockport and daughter Laura Leeds and her husband, Matthew Leeds of Beverly.

No services or visiting hours are planned at this time. Jerre and Jan will have their ashes combined and scattered at sea.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Care Dimensions Hospice House, 125 Winter Street, Lincoln, MA 01773.
