Rockport - Joan Ruth (Reardon) Alessi, 59, of Gloucester, passed away on December 5, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in Gloucester on June 17, 1966, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Anita (Carr) Reardon. A 1985 graduate of Gloucester High School, Joan spent much of her life caring for others, most memorably as a caretaker for the elderly. Her warmth, reliability, and gentle humor made her a comforting presence to those she cared for.

Joan was deeply creative and had an eye for beauty in unexpected places. She loved art and painting, especially transforming old furniture into vibrant, meaningful pieces. She embraced holistic practices, found comfort in knitting, gardening, beach days, and quiet nature walks. Her spontaneous, fun-loving spirit made her unforgettable to everyone she knew.

Her greatest joy was her family. Joan is survived by her son, Charles Michael O'Maley and his wife Christina of Gloucester; her daughter, Kaitlyn (Reardon-Kelley) Norcia and her husband David of Burlington. She was the cherished "Nani" of Ella and Ralph O'Maley and was joyfully awaiting the arrival of a new grandson later this month. She is also survived by her sister, Marsha Ciolino and her husband Jerry of Gloucester; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss her deeply.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Thomas J. "Harry" Reardon III, and her sister, Judy Reardon.

In keeping with Joan's wishes, no formal funeral services will be held. A celebration of her life will be planned at a later date, so all who loved her can gather and honor her in the joyful, spirited way she lived.
