Gloucester - José Nunes Silva Jr. 96, husband of the late Isabel C. Silva of Gloucester, passed away on Saturday morning, April 11, 2026, in his home with his family at his side.

José was born in the Azores, Portugal on December 4, 1929, son of the late José Nunes Silva Sr. and Maria Cardoso.

José came with his wife to the United States twenty years ago to live with their beloved daughter and family. He was a passionate gardener who will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary Jo and her husband Henry DaSilva; grandchildren, Zachary and Isaac DaSilva; his siblings, Emido Silva, Conceieaõ Faria, Maria Gil, Margarida Rosario, and Julia DaSilva.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Francisco Silva and Manuel Silva.

A visitation will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, on Thursday, April 16, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by his Funeral Mass celebrated at Our Lady of Good Voyage Church on at 11 a.m. Extended family and friends are cordially invited to attend. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
