Gloucester - Joyce M. (Perry) Lucido, 73, of Gloucester, wife of Joseph A. Lucido, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Friday, November 1, 2019, at her residence.
She was born in Providence, Rhode Island, on September 8, 1946, daughter of the late Ernest and Lucy (Roland) Perry.
Joyce was a graduate of Gloucester High School, class of 1964. After graduation she worked for several local businesses as a secretary before deciding to stay home to raise her four boys. She then went back to school, attending Massachusetts School of Barbering, receiving her certificate and later joining the family barbershop business for five years. Joyce's smiling face then greeted patients throughout the North Shore as a receptionist for over 25 years for Dr. John Clapp and Dr. Thomas Lapine in Danvers before her retirement.
Joyce was a strong supporter of high school athletics for over 30 years, including teams from Gloucester, Rockport and Georgetown. She was also the former secretary of the Gloucester High School Football Boosters and was a member of her high school reunion committee. She and Joe could often be found traveling all over the North Shore and the Greater Boston area watching their grandchildren's sporting events and other activities.
Joyce enjoyed cooking, having her family get together and hosting friends for their famous Fiesta and Super Bowl parties. She cherished the time spent babysitting her grandchildren and driving them wherever they needed to be.
Joe and Joyce enjoyed traveling to Italy, trips to Las Vegas, Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun and Twin River casinos. Joyce loved to play bingo, go shopping and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph A. Lucido, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage; sons, Anthony, husband of Cynthia (Johnson) Lucido of Gloucester, Christopher, husband of Lisa (Sutera) Lucido of Gloucester, Peter, husband of Stacy (Cooper) Lucido of Georgetown, Joseph, husband of Constantina (Mantzourani) Lucido of Rockport; 14 grandchildren, who she just adored, Nicole, wife of Nicholas Pizzimenti, Kyle, Husband of Erin, Alex, fiancé of Megan Welcome and Caitlyn Lucido, companion of Mark Haggett, all of Gloucester; Jake and Jared Lucido, of Gloucester; Nicholas Lucido of Boston, Jack, Carter, Miles and Sadie Lucido, all of Georgetown; Zoe, Sophia and Gabriella Lucido, all of Rockport; two great-grandchildren, Everly Pizzimenti and Everlee Welcome-Lucido, both of Gloucester; sister and best friend, Janice M. (Perry) Griffin of Danvers; brothers-in-law and sisters in-law, Salvatore and Janet Lucido of Gloucester, Craige and Mary (Lucido) McCoy of Manchester-by-the-Sea; Lawrence McEachern, Theresa (Lucido) and Robert Doyle of Gloucester and Julie Williams of Danvers; her aunt, Elsie (Roland) Maione of North Attleboro and many cousins and dear friends, including her best friend, Donna Mineo.
She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews, Laurie Griffin, Linda Griffin, Scott Griffin, Vicki (Griffin) and Tim O'Leary, Michael Lucido, Kim Rose, Mark McCoy, Patty (Lucido) and John Vestal, Salvatore Lucido, Kelly (Amero) and John Gray, Scott Amero, Jason and Trina Doyle, Gina Doyle and Danny Bean, Mark and Heather McCoy; her special niece and godchild, Gayle (Lucido) and her husband Paul Movalli.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gasper and Rose (Piscitello) Lucido; brothers-in-law, David Griffin, Jack Lucido and Thomas Lucido; sisters-in-law, Sally (Brooks) Lucido, Rosalie (Lucido) McEachern and nephews, Timothy Lucido, Keith Rose, Kevin Rose and John Carver.
Joyce's family would like to extend a special thanks to the hospice team at Care Dimensions for their loving care during her illness.

Her funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, on Thursday, November 7, at 8:45 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. The burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester. Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday, November 6, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Dear Joe and family I haven’t seen any of you for years but looking at her picture her smile is the one I remember from up on the Hill as teens... it sounds like your years together we’re good ones so while this terrible loss has happened, memories will be there..
