Gloucester, MA - Joyce J. Shea, 81, of Gloucester, MA, passed away July 6, 2026. Joyce was the devoted wife of John W. Shea for more than 58 years. Together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family and the many personal and professional relationships they cultivated throughout the years.

After graduating Carroll College in Helena, Montana in 1966, Joyce ventured into Alaska to teach Romance languages to the children of military families at Fort Richardson and Elemdorf Air Force Base. It was there that she met the love of her life, John, beginning a remarkable partnership that would span nearly six decades.

Throughout their careers, John and Joyce worked in the hospitality and service industry. In 1989, they founded Coastal Service Network, combining more than 37 years of personal and professional experience to build a respected company known for its commitment to exceptional service. Together, they worked side by side, both in the office and in the field, earning the trust and friendship of countless clients and colleagues.

Joyce also possessed a remarkable gift for calligraphy. Her beautifully crafted pieces were treasured by family, friends, and members of the community, each reflecting the care, creativity, and generosity that defined her life.

Above all, Joyce cherished time spent with her beloved husband, John; her son, Andrew; her daughter-in-law, Brenna; and her cherished grandsons Aidan and Dylan. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

One of Joyce's final screenshots captured a quote that beautifully reflected the way she lived her life:

"I am grateful for what happened in the past, and I say 'yes' to my future".

These words speak to a life rooted in gratitude, faith, hope, and serve as a lasting reminder of the grace with which Joyce faced every chapter of her journey.

Joyce was taken from us far too soon, but her love, kindness, and steady presence will never be forgotten. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, compassion, and service that will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.

Joyce was predeceased by her mother, Evelyn Leonard; her father Francis Leonard; and her brother, Charles Leonard.

A visitation will be held at St. Ann's Church, Holy Family Parish, on Thursday, July 23, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a memorial mass at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
