Judith Ann Dexter passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026 in Walnut Creek, California which became her home the past 51 years.
Judith was the daughter of the late Harold Clark Dexter and Eleanor Perkins Dexter. She was the second daughter of ten children. She graduated from Gloucester High School in 1956, then went on to Burdett College of Business in Boston Massachusetts. After graduating, Judith applied to American Airlines for a flight attendant position. She was trained in Dallas, Texas. Her first assignment was at American Airlines LaGuardia Airport in Queens, New York. In 1960, Judith married Ronald Scott Young of Medford, MA.
They began their family in Danvers, MA and then in 1974 after Ronald was transferred to San Francisco with John Hancock they settled in Walnut Creek to raise their three daughters; Jennifer Young, Deborah Coyote, and Amy Fox.
In 1966, Judith's legacy began when she became active in the National Organization of Women, NOW. Members lobbied for gender equality, reproductive rights, economic justice and LGBTQIA+ rights advocating for Constitutional equality, and the ERA. She became a rape crisis member helping to work against violence to women and becoming the victims advocate both in the hospital and the courtroom. This was her passion and she worked tirelessly for others to benefit. Judith's career was working as a relocation expert. Her expertise was helping people who were transferred for work, to find the best area for their needs and lifestyle. She connected them with realtors and other important businesses to make their transition smoother. She also volunteered as an Ombudsman at Senior communities. In Judith's retirement years, she enthusiastically became a volunteer at both ARF animal rescue and the service desk of the Walnut Creek Police Department acting as a Citizen Advocate and being named volunteer of the year twice. In her later years, Judith moved into a retirement community, with the help of her daughter Jennifer, who took care of her mother's needs and was by her side when she passed making her feel loved and cared for.
