June (Schlichting) Braunlich Obituary

Rockport - June (Schlichting) Braunlich, 83, passed away peacefully with family by her side on July 5, 2026, at Beverly Hospital, Beverly, MA.

June was born in Queens, NY on December 13, 1942, to the late Hettie E. (Liesegang) and Fredrick Schlichting. She graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in Middle Village, NY in 1960 and attended Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY as a nursing student. Following two years at Hartwick, June started working for the New York Telephone Company where she met the love of her life, William E. "Bill" Braunlich, son of Isabelle O. (Bloodgood) and Robert G Braunlich, II, of Staten Island, NY. June was a hostess for "NY Tel." at the 1965 New York World's Fair. She later worked for Chrysler Corporation in Forest Hills, NY. June and Bill were married in 1967 and settled in Chatham, NJ. In 1984, June and her family moved to Boxford, MA.

June volunteered for many organizations throughout her life. She was an active parishioner at Trinity Episcopal Church in Topsfield, MA and made her Cursillo in 1993, which bore her cherished prayer group of dear friends who met weekly for almost 20 years. She helped spearhead a special needs program to support academically challenged students in grades 6-8 at Masconomet Regional Junior High. She was an active member of the League of Women Voters and a Quota Club International of Andover board member. June and her beloved husband, Bill, spent many years working with the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Boston, an organization close to their hearts, as it grew into what is now Epilepsy Foundation New England. She was also a member of the National Association of Professional Women.

June had an entrepreneurial spirit and was involved in many businesses throughout the years. In 1995, she earned a degree from Catherine Hinds Institute of Aesthetics. In 2011, June graduated from the Institute for Integrated Nutrition as a Certified Holistic Health Coach. She was a part-owner in Lavenders Skin Care Etc., Methuen, MA and worked as an aesthetician at LaseAway in North Andover, MA. In 2012, she started her virtual business, Nutrition Soulutions where she counseled and treated many clients, many of whom became like family to her. In 1999, June and Bill moved to Rockport, MA to spend the remainder of their 56 years together by the sea. June continued to run Nutrition Soulutions until 2019 when she officially retired.

Art and nature were intrinsic to who June was, a love that came from her many years at YWCA Camp Quannacut in upstate NY and having been raised by a family of artists and creatives. Her favorite place was outside watching the birds and all of nature around her. She also enjoyed sketching, watercolor painting, making prints from hand-carved woodblocks, sewing, knitting, and embroidery. She was a life-long learner and took many different art classes during her lifetime at Fairleigh Dickinson University's Fine Arts program and at many locations in New England.

June is predeceased by her parents, beloved husband, and by her dear sister, Rosanne (Schlichting) Anderson Moon. June leaves behind her beloved daughters, Kristin E. Kirwan and husband John M. of Rockport, MA, and Heidi A. Braunlich of Salem, MA, her cherished grandsons, John T. Kirwan of Medford, MA, and William M. Kirwan and his wife, Caitlyn D. of Boston, MA, in addition to many treasured nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews, and great grandnieces and great grandnephews, and many, many cherished colleagues and friends whose company she truly loved.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 25 at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 124 River Road, Topsfield, MA. A private internment will take place at Moravian Cemetery on Staten Island at a later date. There will be no visiting hours.
