Rockport - With deep sorrow our beloved Kenneth Jackson Wilkie Jr., passed away Monday, January 26, 2026, at age 89.
He was born in Gloucester, MA to Lina (Johnson) Wilkie & Kenneth J. Wilkie Sr. His first and utmost importance was his admiration, passion and love for his wife Carol Greenlow Wilkie, she was his everything. He grew up in Rockport, MA and North Conway, NH graduating from Kennett High School. He met the love of his life, married, and started a family. He had moved around, being in the Navy, then transferring to the Army where he received the Army Medal of Occupation Berlin for two years' service in occupied Berlin. He also was very proud of his several year Navy service on the U.S. Aircraft carrier Intrepid.
He was employed by Thermet then The Cape Ann Tool Company where he was a Forman. He loved driving around in his car socializing at coffee shops or going down to the wharf seeing who's out fishing and talking to his fishermen friends. He also would sit down back beach where he grew up and chat with locals as well. He touched many with his silly jokes, there was lots of laughter for the joke and/or him cheerfully delivering it. Both Ken and Carol lobstered out of Rockport harbor owning the boat Tanya L. Next to his family he loved his cats, Daisy and Lucy. He will be deeply missed.
He survived by 4 daughters: Elaine Somers and husband Bill, Pamela Cox and husband, Charlie, Krissie Burnham, Kery Nunez and husband Luis, sister, Marilyn Munroe, Sandra Macmillian and husband Doug, brother Lewis Wilkie and wife Lisa, and many grandchildren.
Arrangements will be announced in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cape Ann Animal Aid, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930. Arrangements by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester. For online condolences, please visit www.greelyfuneralhome.com .
