Gloucester - Lawrence William Paul of Gloucester passed away on Thursday, July 02, 2026.

He was born on August 13, 1947, in Peabody, MA to William and Marion Paul (née Flynn).

He graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1965 and after graduation enthusiastically enlisted in the US Navy. His Navy days were among some of his best, Larry often recounted stories to anyone that would listen. He served aboard the USS Kearsarge, and the USS Enterprise in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. A proud Shellback and Mossback, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (2), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

He was a proud member of the Portuguese American War Veteran's Post in Peabody after his service.

After his time in the Navy, he worked several jobs but retired from Synventive Molding Solutions in 2010.

Although born in Peabody and having travelled the world, he called Gloucester home and loved this city. He dedicated much of his time to coaching Pee Wee sports in the 90's. You would most often find him on the football field, but he also coached baseball and basketball. The Annisquam River also held a large piece of his heart. Whether it was a quiet picnic with his wife or a rowdy afternoon swimming with the kids, it was always high on his list. Larry loved being outside, kept a meticulous lawn and after his in-laws passed, continued their tradition of growing vegetables in the backyard garden.

He is predeceased by his son, Michael, his parents, and his siblings.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine (née Gabriele); his children, Lauren (Chris), Lisa (Jared), Christopher (Allison); grandchildren, Michael, Benjamin, Christopher, Athena, Michael Jr., Ryland, Amelia, and Isabella.
