Gloucester - Linda A. Walcott, a longtime Gloucester, Mass., resident, passed away peacefully on August 22 at the Kaplan House Hospice in Danvers, Mass. Born in Teaneck, N.J., on September 3, 1945, she was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Norma Aldrich of Lee, Mass.; and brother, Frank Aldrich of Chatham, Mass.

Linda led a life filled with curiosity, love and creativity. She touched all who met her with generosity and loving energy, sharing with a diverse group of friends her easy laugh, her love of food, her passion for the arts, especially dance, and her deep appreciation for the beauty of Cape Ann. Many will remember walking with Linda and her dog, Lucy-no terrain or topic was off-limits.

Linda regularly opened her home to friends and family to share delicious, imaginatively presented meals. Her bountiful garden and her eclectic collection of art and natural objects reflected Linda's wide-ranging interests, from a weathered string of Tibetan peace flags to her trusty, red sea kayak. She brought family and friends together for epic dinners on special occasions, rejoicing in the birth of new children or consoling us as we grieved the loss of loved ones. Through her catering business, Linda fed people at events large and small, always stylishly and cheerfully. Her warm smile, her gentle blue eyes and her kind but commanding voice inspired all who knew her.

Linda and her husband, Sage, enjoyed a romantic and collaborative union of 52 years. She reveled in her role as mother to Jennifer and Alison; mother-in-law to Anton Glovsky and Vaughan Rees; and grandmother to Alden Glovsky, Morgan Glovsky, Euan Rees and Nell Rees. Each of them felt the power of her affection as they accompanied her on her irresistible adventures. Linda worked tirelessly for a more just and peaceful world and for the thoughtful preservation of the natural world. The lessons she left us with will be treasured forever.

The Walcott, Rees, and Glovsky families gratefully acknowledge the dedication of the wonderful caregivers at Mass General Hospital, Lunder 10 and Yawkey 8 and 9. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Cape Ann Animal Aid, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930.
