Gloucester - Lorraine A. (Plante) "Rainey" Parsons, 90, of Gloucester, passed away Sunday evening, August 4, 2019, in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, Mass. Lorraine was born in Salem, Mass., on August 31, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Joseph C. and Amelia (Bouchard) Plante.
An antique enthusiast, Rainey was skilled in furniture restoration and refinishing and could make any piece of furniture shine. She shared her love of second hand finds, elephants and jewelry with all and was happiest when you left her home with a new trinket or gadget. She enjoyed her bus trips with the girls to the mall and casino, coffee and word searches at the kitchen table and was always up for playing bingo.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard A. Parsons; her son Kevin Plante; and three sisters, Rita Irwin, Doris LaPointe and Cecile Louf.
She is survived by her three daughters, Trudy Parsons and her wife Lucinda of N.H., Shelley Durette and her husband John of Haverhill, Mass., Gail Huntley of Gloucester; a son Wallace Parsons and his wife Bridget of Riverhead, N.Y.; her very best friend Barbara Fine and a daughter-in-law Diane Plante. She was a devoted Nana to her grandchildren, Wallace Parsons Jr., Jonathan Parsons and Robert Parsons; Amy Rodriguez, Kimberly Petosky, Kristie Cronberg and Kara Wagner, Carrie Huntley and Mindy Guerreiros, and Mickey Plante and Jillian Plante; as well as her 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Her visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, MA, on Saturday, August 31, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. There are no services and her burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to: American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
