Gloucester - Gloucester - Maria "Enza" (Adelfio) Noto, of Gloucester, beloved mother, grandmother and friend to so many, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, at the age of 73, after a brief courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family
Born on December 5, 1951, in Terrasini, Sicily, Maria immigrated to the United States in 1966 at the age of 14. She made Gloucester her home, becoming a cherished member of the community.
Maria was predeceased by her beloved husband of 47 years, Pietro Noto, her devoted partner and true love.
Maria was the proud and devoted mother of three daughters, Virginia Noto of Gloucester (partner Sal Eurici), Anna Ciaramitaro of Macomb, Michigan (husband Antonino), and Silvana Figueira of Beverly (husband John). She was a loving grandmother to Kristina Koulouris, Caterina, Giuseppe and Pietro Ciaramitaro, and Ariana and Joshua Figueira.
She was the cherished daughter of the late Stefano and Anna (Grillo) Adelfio, sister to Caterina Mannino (late husband Vincenzo) of Terrasini, Sicily, Bianca Salerno (late husband Giacomo) of Gloucester; Elizabeth Passalacqua (husband Valerio) of Gloucester; and Vincent Adelfio (wife Heather) of Gloucester.
Maria leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family across Gloucester, Sicily, Canada, Michigan, Florida, and beyond, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
Maria worked for over 30 years at Gorton's as a fish packer and previously at Mighty-Mac. Her strong work ethic and dedication were admired by all who worked alongside her.
The family also wishes to express special gratitude to all relatives, friends, and countless supporters who were there for Maria, during her final days.
Visitation will be held at Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Thursday, October 30th from 4 to 8 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Ann's Church, Holy Family Parish, at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 31st. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
The burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester following the funeral Mass.
