Gloucester - Gloucester - Marie (Duchane) Swinson, 94, of Gloucester, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025. She was the wife of the late Robert J. Swinson Sr.

Marie was born on June 6, 1931, daughter of the late Albert and Eleanor (Ross) Duchane. She attended local schools and graduated from Gloucester High School in1949. She married Robert in 1951 and together they had three children.

Marie worked as a bookkeeper for the Art Jewelry Company for fifteen years then worked in the accounting offices of several businesses in the North Shore area. She retired from Salem 5 Savings Bank in 1998. She continued to work part-time at the Orlando family's bed and breakfast, the Harborview Inn.

For over 60 years, Marie was a member of St. Ann's Church and was very active on the Holy Family Women's Guild. Marie also enjoyed traveling, reading and her favorite pastime, knitting.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Marcia and her husband Richard Jansson; granddaughter, Elise and her husband Lucio Galvansson; grandson, Benjamin Jansson; daughter-in-law, Andrea Swinson; sister-in-law, Roseann Duchane; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was predeceased by her sons, Robert Swinson Jr. and Gregory Swinson; her sister, Barbara DeCoste; brother, Paul Duchane; and brother-in-law, Charles DeCoste.

Services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marie's memory to the Northeast ARC or a charity or organization of your choice.
