Hampton - Marilyn Gail Abdo, 88, of Hampton, and formerly of Gloucester, MA, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2023, surrounded by her loving daughters. She was born on December 18, 1934, to the late Emile and Thelma (Henderson) Maurais. Born and raised in Danvers, MA, she graduated from Danvers High School in 1953. She met her future husband Robert Abdo at a local dance, and the young couple married in 1955. Robert and Marilyn settled in the Magnolia-Gloucester area to raise their four daughters. Before becoming a full-time homemaker, Marilyn was employed as a flight attendant with Northeast Airlines. As her children grew older, she was employed at the Bass Rocks Ocean Inn and Atlantis Oceanfront Inn in Gloucester, MA. She worked at both places for many years and made many wonderful friends with her co-workers and frequent guests. She also enjoyed volunteering in her retirement years at the Rose Baker Senior Center in Gloucester. She loved traveling the world with her best friends, Kay and Millie, playing Bingo, reading murder mysteries, frequently dining out with her family and friends, and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a generous spirit and a loving smile for all who met her. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Candis Caldarone and husband James of Epping, NH, Robyn Abdo of Magnolia, MA, Lisa Abdo of Amesbury, MA, and Sharon Sanfilippo and husband Salvatore of Gloucester, MA. She also leaves behind grandchildren Michelle, Monique, Christian, Joseph, and Janaya and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Kenneth Maurais and Roland Maurais, and sister Carol Carter. There will be a celebration of life to be announced at a later date.
