Mary A. Goldsmith, 81, died Sunday, January 22, 2017, at the Epsom Healthcare Center. She was born in Gloucester, Mass., on August 24, 1935. She is the daughter of William and Cecelia Nixon.

She was employed as a stitcher at Farmington Shoe.

She was the widow of Roger Porter, Sr. and Robert Ferguson.

Survivors include her children, William Porter of Gloucester, Mass., Roger Porter, Jr. of Barnstead, N.H., Mary Lou Reed of Trent, Texas, and Melvin Porter of New Ipswich, N.H.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, John V. Nelson of Gloucester, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, William Nixon; and two great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Maci Wood.

Friends may call Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the H. J. Grondin & Son Funeral Home, 177 N. Main Street, Rochester, NH. Funeral services will follow at noon in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be Monday, January 30, 2017, at noon in Locust Grove Cemetery, Rockport, MA.
