Gloucester - Mary A. Ventimiglia, 87, of Gloucester, wife of the late Samuel Ventimiglia, passed away peacefully at the Addison Gilbert Hospital on Thursday, January 16, 2020.
She was born in East Boston on May 6, 1932, daughter of the late Giuseppe and Anna (Giacalone) Guarino.
Mary was a graduate of East Boston High School, Class 1949. She worked on the wharf as a fish packer for many years. She later worked for over 32 years in Quality Control at Tadco Manufacturing Company in Gloucester and Rockport.
She was a member of the Madonna Del Rosaria Society, the Holy Name Guild and the Seafearers Retirees. Mary was also a social member of the Vittori Rocci Post in Beverly, Mass. where she and her husband, Sam, spent many Saturday evenings dancing with friends. Mary and Sam also enjoyed traveling and taking cruises to places such as Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Aruba, and the Caribbean Islands. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her dry wit.
Mary is survived by her two children, Francis J. Ventimiglia and his wife, Laura M. Alberghini, and Madelyn Maker, all of Gloucester; his grandchildren, Mark F. Ventimiglia and his wife, Laura, Matthew T. Ventimiglia and his wife, Arlene, Michael A. Ventimiglia and Laurie Cairns, Francis J. Ventimiglia II and his wife, Clarissa, Maria Juden and her husband, Daniel C. II, Michael Loiacano and his wife, Donna, and William Maker; her great-grandchildren, Israel J. F. Ventimiglia, Violet R. Ventimiglia, Thomas M. Ventimiglia, Tyler H. Ventimiglia, Emily J. Ventimiglia, Maximilian J. Ventimiglia, Xavier F. Ventimiglia, Lyla L. A. Juden, Daniel C. Juden III, Colton S. F. Juden, Sophia Loiacano, and Christopher Loiacano. She is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Grace Simpson, Vincie Woodhams, Joanne Serio and her husband, Joe, Virginia Ventimiglia, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 2 sisters, Giacoma "Ida" Comella and her husband Anthony, Michela Parrinella and her husband Antone; 2 brothers, Salvatore Guarino and his wife Anna, Frank Guarino and his wife Mary Lou; brothers-in-law John, Frank, and Philip Ventimiglia.
Her funeral service will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 11 a.m. A visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
