Michael E. Armstrong Obituary

Ipswich - Michael E. Armstrong, 85 of Ipswich, formerly of Gloucester, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 28th with Cynthia Brown and her daughter Megan Clune Blais at his side, two people who shared his life and his heart.

Born in Gloucester on March 31, 1941, he was the son of the late Earl G. and Dorothy E. (Wilson) Armstrong.

Michael was born and raised in Gloucester. He was a graduate of Rockport High School-Class of '59. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, as a Helicopter Aircrewman, proudly serving from 1959 to 1965.

He was a long-time employee and family friend of Brown's Gloucester Yacht Yards as a General Manager. He worked at Gloucester Engineering for 25 years as a Machinist before retiring.

Michael was a resident of Ipswich for the past 25 years. He cherished living in his second home with family and friends at Belleau Lake in East Wakefield, NH, a place that brought him peace, joy, and countless happy memories.

He is survived by cousins Ed, Larry, and Jack Dahlmer, his adopted family: the Brown's - Tim, Valerie, Kit, Cynthia, Janine and Merri; his dear friends Karen and Stew Blessington and their children Kate, Stew and Sarah (Goddaughter); Johnny Oliver, Kathy & Bruce Amero and Don Vadala.

A private celebration of life at a future date. Contributions may be made in Michael's memory to Merri Brown in her cancer recovery here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-my-sisters-cancer-recovery-79mzf.
