Gloucester - Michael Alan Pierce, of Gloucester, passed away unexpectedly on July 2, 2026, just shy of his 68th birthday.

Mike graduated from Gloucester High School and was a man who knew the value of honest work and who spent much of his life working with his hands, including years as a Longshoreman ("Lumper") on the freighters, a lobsterman, landlord, and a house painter. Outside of work Mike could be found relaxing at the beach with friends and family, where a frisbee was often involved, and loved the hunt of a good yard sale where he rarely came home empty handed. He loved his time with the Sunday morning softball team "Kellehers" and in the semi-fast softball league in his younger days.

In his later years, Mike enjoyed spending winters with family in Florida and vacationing in Mexico.

Mike lived a life defined by generosity, humor, resilience, and his unwavering devotion in helping those around him. He took great pride in being a part of all of his nieces and nephew's lives, always attending special celebrations and sporting events.

He was predeceased by his parents John W. "Bill" and Judith M. (Lowe) Pierce, his brother Steve Pierce, and his nephew, Matthew Pierce.

He is survived by his longtime companion Felicia Raftery and her son Kevin, and by his siblings: Chris Pierce and his wife Pam, and their granddaughter Azriella; sister-in-law Susan Pierce; Dave Pierce and his wife Joan; Tim Pierce and his wife Missy; and his sister, Kelly Rizzo. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Jamie, John, Cori, Elizabeth, Chris, Amanda Tom, Willy, Andy, Jeff, Anthony, and Jack and Clay with whom he shared a very special bond. His Aunts Patricia Luster of San Diego, CA; Marjorie Beylard of Gloucester, MA and her partner Neil Collesidis; Uncle Russell Lowe, Jr. of Post Falls, IA, and several cousins including Donna Mangus, Karen Luster, Peter Luster, and Bobby Luster of San Diego, CA, and David Beylard; as well as his longtime friends, Mike Brien, Bob Bishop, and Jack McKinnon.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and support that will live on in all who knew him.

Mike will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his unwavering support for those he loved.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Elks at Bass Rocks in Gloucester on August 16, 2026, from 1-5 p.m. to celebrate a life well lived. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
