Nancy E. Andrews Obituary
Rockport - Rockport - Nancy E. (Day) Andrews, 92, wife of the late Charles D. Andrews, passed away peacefully at Kaplan Family Hospice House on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. She was born in Gloucester December 13, 1932, to the late Carlton M and Willetta (Larkin) Day.
She graduated from Gloucester High School in 1951 and worked at Massachusetts Electric where she met Charlie. She was a stay-at-home Mom for her three daughters, working various part time jobs until working full time for Carroll K Steele Insurance for 18 years, retiring in 1994.
Nancy was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church in Gloucester and served on many church boards along with being a member of the choir for 60 years. A soprano, she occasionally performed solos during church services. In her later years, she attended the First Congregational Church of Rockport, first in person then later in the comfort of her home watching on her iPad.
She was an avid reader, a Jeopardy fan, a lover of opera and her hydrangeas. As a knitter, she made numerous sweaters for family members and baby sweaters, hats and blankets for church fairs. She also made afghans for Veteran hospitals. On weekday mornings, Nancy enjoyed meeting with her friends Nancy, Joan, June, Jane, Rosemary and Mary at Brothers Brew for coffee, conversation and many laughs.
She and Charlie were their grandchildren's biggest fans attending many of their grandsons' sporting events and granddaughters' dance recitals. They also enjoyed many vacations with their grandchildren to the White Mountains and Disney. You never knew what misadventure might happen with Gramee along.
The family would like to thank the staff at Addison Gilbert Hospital and Kaplan for their wonderful care and kindness.
Nancy is survived by her daughters, Karen Andrews, Julie Tanson, the wife of Phillip Tanson and Alison Andrews, all of Rockport. Her grandchildren Nathan (Nate) Andrews and his partner, Jaclyn Phillips of Oceanside, CA. Caleb Tanson and his partner Cecila Hennessy of Beverly, Kaylyn Andrews and her fiancé Connor Adkins of Beverly and Ethan Tanson of Rockport.
