Nancy A. Powers Obituary

Gloucester, MA. Ocala - Nancy Powers passed away peacefully after a battle with Alzheimer's on January 1, 2026 at Seacoast Nursing Home in Gloucester, MA.

Born in Gloucester MA on August 23, 1934 to the late Edward and Linda (Bowman) O'Maley. Nancy grew up on Smith St. in Gloucester where she had many friends. She spent most of her summers in Rockport with her Bowman relatives creating many wonderful memories. Nancy graduated from Gloucester High School, Class of 1952.

On October 31, 1954 Nancy married Everett A. Powers, Jr. Together they shared 40 years of marriage prior to Everett's passing in 1995. Nancy and Everett moved to Magnolia from the Powers' family home on Maplewood Ave, shortly after their marriage. There they raised three sons in their family home on Western Avenue. During the years of her young children's lives Nancy worked as an aid to the pre-school teachers at the Little Red School house of Magnolia. As her children grew, she took a job with Cape Ann Medical Center as a billing clerk where she enjoyed interacting with the patients and her coworkers. Nancy and Everett were active members of the Capt. Lester Wass American Legion, Gloucester. Nancy had many fond memories of functions with friends there. She loved listening to all types of music and dancing. Nancy enjoyed walking Shore Road and summers on Magnolia Beach with her boys and later her granddaughter. She was an avid gardener, tending to numerous household plants and outdoor perennial gardens in the summer. She loved the Magnolia tree in her front yard given as a Mother's Day gift from her boys. Nancy also enjoyed her winters in Ocala, FL where she and Everett had bought a home in the 1970's and where her son Gary lived.

Nancy is survived by her sons, Scott Powers and his wife Lisa (Peloquin) Powers of Rowley, MA, Dana Powers and his wife, Jennifer (Frans) Powers of Gloucester, MA; granddaughter, Abigail (Powers) Burg and her husband, Brandon of Manchester, MA; grandson, Zachary Powers of Ocala, FL; great-grandsons, Henry and Noah Burg of Manchester, MA; brother, Lawrence O'Maley of Essex, MA; sisters, Linda (O'Maley) King of Pembroke, MA and Lois (O'Maley) Dermody of Vero Beach, FL. She was predeceased by her son, Gary Powers of Ocala, FL.

Nancy's final 18 months were spent comfortably at Atlantic Shores, Seacoast Nursing Home. The family is very appreciative of the Seacoast and Care Dimensions staff for their understanding and compassionate care of Nancy during her time there.

In keeping with Nancy's wishes there will be no services.
