Gloucester - Paul S. Parisi passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of his immediate and extended family.

Born in Gloucester, MA, Paul was the son of the late Capt. Philip "Scotty" and Frances (Randazza) Parisi. He was a 1953 graduate of St. Ann High School and a proud veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958. Following his active-duty service, Paul attended the Academy at Boston College, then Merrimack College with his lifelong best friend and fellow veteran, Gerolamo "Mimi" Curcuru, where he was involved in planning social events and concerts, and was a member of the Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. He graduated from Merrimack in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Accounting.

In 1963, Paul married the love of his life, Patricia J. (Tarr) Parisi, with whom he shared a loving marriage of 61 years. He spent the majority of his career as a cost accounting manager and plant controller for over 35 years with O'Donnell-Usen Fisheries (later Conagra Seafoods) in Gloucester and Tampa, FL.

Throughout his life, Paul had many varied interests that he pursued with passion. In 1974, he was elected to the City of Gloucester Charter Commission, where he played a key role in establishing the executive and legislative (Mayor–City Council) form of government still in practice today. He later managed several political campaigns and remained an active member of the Democratic City Committee for many years.

A true Renaissance man, Paul loved to cook for his family, was an avid gardener, a voracious reader of history, and a lover of classical music. He especially enjoyed making Sunday sugo and meatballs using tomatoes from his own garden, while listening to opera, up until just the past few months. While briefly living in Tampa, FL, in 1997, he entered his family's homemade ciabatta bread in the Sunshine State Fair Strawberry Festival contest and won first prize. During his military tour in the Far East and South Pacific, Paul developed a lasting appreciation for Asian culture, eventually transferring his gardening skills to become an award-winning bonsai culturist, earning multiple first- and second-prize awards over the years, including at the Topsfield Fair.

Paul found his greatest joy in sharing stories with his children and grandchildren, and supporting them in their activities. Whether attending his sons' marching band competitions and diving meets, his daughter's rowing events, or his grandchildren's hockey, singing, and soccer, Paul was there for all of it. He was their greatest champion, and they felt his devotion deeply.

In addition to his wife and parents, Paul was predeceased by an infant son, Stephen Arthur; his in-laws, Arthur C. and B. Lucille (Meuse) Tarr; his sister, Nina, and her husband, Jack Giacalone; his sisters-in-law, Pamela Schwartz and her husband, Lloyd Schwartz; and Paula Bolcome, wife of Alfred Bolcome.

Paul leaves behind his children, Scott Parisi; Cynthia Perry and her husband, John Dana; and Paul Parisi Jr. and his wife, Jennie; his grandchildren, Noelle Perry, Caleb Perry, Grace Parisi, and Faith Parisi, who all adored him. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he cherished.

The family would like to thank the staff at Seacoast Nursing Home, who showed him extra loving care, appreciated his warm-hearted nature and indulged his epigrammatic wit. We'd also like to thank his friend and neighbor, Cathy Salciccia, whose attentiveness and care meant so much.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester followed by a Graveside Service with Military honors at Calvary Cemetery at 12:00 noon, after which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a reception.
