Gloucester - Rose M. (Aiello) Demetri, 96 years, of Gloucester, passed away Sunday afternoon at her residence. She was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore "Sam" Demetri. Born in Gloucester, she was the daughter of the late Vito and Maria (Militello) Aiello. She was a graduate of St. Ann's School in Gloucester.

Mrs. Demetri was a talented self-taught seamstress and had been employed at Mighty Mac in Gloucester for many years. Rose was well known throughout the Gloucester Community as a dressmaker and made beautiful christening gowns for many.



Rose was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a faithful communicant of Holy Family Church and a member of the Madonna del Rosario Society. She enjoyed cooking and having her family over often to her home. To the neighborhood kids, she was well known for her meatballs every Sunday. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.



Surviving her are two daughters, Katherine Dias and her husband Anthony of Gloucester and Maria Gay of Gloucester; one son, Vito Demetri and his wife Sandra of Gloucester; six grandchildren, Rosemarie and Giuseppe Randazzo, Justin and Danielle Demetri, Vanessa and Joshua Gigliotti, Olivia and Travis McCormack, Stephen Demetri and Nicole and Lenny Johnson; eight great-grandchildren, Peter and Tara Randazzo, Renee Randazzo, Marcus Demetri, Ava and Michael Gigliotti, Neil Houde and Tyler amd Cameron Johnson; one great-great-grandson, Giuseppe Randazzo; two sisters, Jennie Curcuru of Gloucester and Grace Pallazola of Gloucester; three sisters-in-law, Rose Aiello, Virginia Parisi, and Lillian Caciagli, wife of Tony; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and -nephews. She was also predeceased by her son, Stephen Demetri and his wife Deborah; her son-in-law, John Gay; three sisters, Mary Parisi, Antoinette Militello and Pauline Piscitello; and four brothers, Joe, John, Tony and Sam Aiello.

Her funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Parish, St. Ann's Church, 60 Prospect Street, Gloucester, on Thursday, October 10, 2019, at 11:15 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester. Per the family's request, there will be no visiting hours. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, Gloucester.
