Rockport - Rockport - Rosemary P. Baron, 90, of Rockport, passed away peacefully at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston after a brief illness.
Rosemary was the only child of her parents George A., and Ethel D. Gunder. She grew up in Edgewood R.I. graduating from Cranston High School in 1952.
Rosemary was a military wife for a short time, but returned to R.I. to live with her mother and welcome and raise her daughter, Barbara.
Shortly after the death of her mother, she moved to Rockport and worked for Gorton's of Gloucester, Sawtelle Brothers as a business manager, and lastly as a payroll manager and assistant to the Director of nursing at Addison Gilbert Hospital while volunteering as treasurer for Sandy Bay Yacht Club.
Being one to never stop in her semi-retirement she was secretary at the Congregational Church and than St. Mary's Episcopal Church of Rockport until her full-time retirement in 2017.
Rosemary loved gardening, fishing, and clamming. She was happiest being outdoors. She was very active in her daughter Barbara's life being a Girl Scout Leader and cookie Manager for Cape Ann, a Rainbow parent, along with having many summer vacations and being her daughter's strongest advocate, support, mentor, and inspiration.
Her biggest pride and joy were her grandchildren; they stayed with her for many summers "Nana's Summer Camp." She kept them busy with sailing, tennis, scuba diving, and fishing, all memories and skills they have and have passed on to their children.
Her other pride and joy were her great-grandchildren. She would light up at family gatherings when they were present and always wanted to hug them.
No one can deny the love devotion and pride she had for her family. She showed love and compassion to everyone that she knew and met and will be greatly missed.
Rosemary leaves behind her daughter Barbara and husband, William Grant of Marshfield, grandson, Geoffrey and wife Katherine Grant and great-grandchildren, Olivia Rose, and Benjamin Russell of Fairhaven, grandson, William George of Cranston R.I., and her granddaughter, Jacqueline Page of Dorchester.
Her memorial service will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 61 Middle St., Gloucester, on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 12 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend; visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10 to 12 p.m. The burial will be held on July 19, 2025 at the Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery in North Kingston R.I. at 11 a.m.
