Manchester-By-The-Sea - Sheila Anne (Guenet) Day, 87, of Manchester-By-The-Sea, died surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 21st 2026. Born on September 18, 1938, in Miami, FL, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Grace (Carpenter) Guenet and beloved wife to the late Lewis (Bud) F. Day Jr.
Raised and educated in Manchester-By-The-Sea, and a graduate of Story High School, Anne went on to earn her bachelor's degree from UNH. She worked for many years at Beverly Hospital as a medical technologist. She also worked with emotionally challenged children and for the IRS in her later years.
She was a long time member of Sacred Heart Parish in Manchester, was married in the Church, and enjoyed many of the Parish's activities over the years as well as witnessing countless Marriages, First Communions, Confirmations, and eventually Funerals of friends and family.
Throughout her life, she cultivated a fervent appreciation for the Natural World, enjoying Birdwatching and tending to her wildflower garden. She was an active environmentalist and supporter of animal rights. She also enjoyed reading Daniel Silva or Michael Connelly, listening to Bob Dylan and other folk music, or doing the crossword in the Boston Globe.
Anne is survived by her children, Elisa Heath and her husband, Douglas; Lewis F. Day III, and Diana Ring and her husband, David, all of Manchester-By-The-Sea, as well as her grandchildren, Ryan Heath and his wife, Nayla Khoury of Syracuse, NY, David Heath and his wife, Elizabeth of Cumberland, RI, Sydney Ring, and Jackson Ring, both of Manchester-By-The-Sea. She also leaves 4 great-grandchildren, Samuel, Thomas, Suraya, and Elias Heath.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 62 School Street, Manchester-By-The-Sea, on Friday, March 27th at 11am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Manchester-By-The-Sea. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Anne's memory to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester MA 01930 or Sacred Heart Church, 62 School Street, Manchester-By-The-Sea, MA 01944.
