Stephanie C. Cole Obituary
Rockport - Stephanie Gould Cannon Cole died peacefully in her home after a long illness on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the age of 83 years.
Stephanie was an artist since childhood, drawing and painting early in life, and later working in three-dimensional constructions. Most of her artwork was created in her King Street studio where she spent whole days whenever inspiration struck her.
Stephanie grew up in Manchester, Connecticut, with her parents, Dana and Dorothy Cannon. She finished High School in Berkeley, California, where she married Jim, her husband of 63 years. Rockport became her beloved homestead where she was an art teacher in Rockport Elementary School in the 1970's.
She loved her life on King Street, never thinking of relocating again. Stephanie died in the Rockport home that she and her husband restored since 1971, just as she wished. Stephanie is survived by all who loved her, including her husband Jim, daughters Irene and Paula, son-in-law David, and grandchildren Sky, Sarah, Faolán and Eva. The family will hold a private memorial at a future date.
Stephanie Cole's art was celebrated in shows at The Cape Ann Museum, The Fuller Craft Museum, and the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, among many others.
