Susan Good Obituary

Essex - Susan Good, 81, of Martin St., Essex, died peacefully on January 3rd at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Springfield, MA on July 13,1944, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Eliza (Poske) Butterfield. Raised in Boylston, MA she was a graduate of Tahanto Regional High School, and she continued her education at Clark College. She transferred to Gordon College where she graduated with a history degree in 1966.

She married her classmate from Gordon, John L. Good III on April 9th, 1967. Both Sue and Jack were active members of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Ipswich, and attended the First Congregational Church of Ossipee, NH when they were enjoying their summers at their cottage in Sanbornville, NH.

Sue was employed as a teacher's aide for 30 years at Essex Elementary School and enjoyed working close to home and having a work schedule which allowed her to be present for her children's activities. She spent countless hours driving to and from, and sitting in cold ice rinks watching her kids figure skating and playing hockey. She was a devoted mother who never missed a competition or game, and she volunteered her time for numerous school and after school activities. In her retirement she was a committed volunteer at Partners in Development, and she was instrumental in starting the Dinner Bell program in Ipswich. She served these organizations weekly and enjoyed giving back to her community.

She is preceded in death by her loving spouse of 53 years, Jack. Sue is survived by one son Travis Good and his wife Jennifer "JJ" Good of Essex; a daughter Bonnie Kennedy and her husband Matt of Anacortes, WA; five grandchildren, Brandon Good of Essex, Keegan Kennedy of Nampa, ID, Garrett Kennedy of Beaufort, SC, Erin Kennedy of Fort Collins, CO and Owen Kennedy of Anacortes, WA and cousin Marcelene Pratt of Rutland, MA.

Her memorial service will be at First Congregational Church of Hamilton on Saturday, January 10th, at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be private. Arrangements by Campbell Funeral Home, 6 High St., Ipswich. Contributions may be made in Sue's memory to Ipswich Dinner Bell, PO Box 259, Ipswich, MA 01938; Partners in Development PO Box 901 Ipswich, MA 01938 or Immanual Baptist Church, 45 Central Street, Ipswich, MA 01938.
