Gloucester - Walter Daniel "Danny" Heinonen, 66, passed unexpectedly at home on Friday, January 16, 2026. He was born in Gloucester on November 28, 1959, to Walter John Heinonen and Elizabeth (Rose) Heinonen. Danny was educated in Gloucester public schools and was a member of the math team at GHS and the National Honor Society. During his primary and secondary years, he developed an interest in bowling and golf. He was an accomplished bowler and participated in local teams and tournaments. After graduating from GHS, he graduated from Bentley University with a bachelors and masters degree in accounting and taxation. He was employed for many years by Roger Campbell as tax accountant,

Dan was predeceased by his parents and his brother Arthur and brother-in-law Eugene Amero. He is survived by his sisters, Eileen Erwin, Donna Amero, and Sheila Collins as well as nephews and nieces Brian Erwin, Lauren Erwin, Rachael Favazza, and Nathan Collins and as well as grand nephews and nieces. He will also be missed by his loyal friend Pete Wright and his mentor, Roger Campbell.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 5-7p.m. at the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, Burial will be held in the Locust Grove Cemetery Thursday, February 5, at 1p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
