Sun City Center - Lee was born on April 30, 1930, the son of LCDR W.L. Saunders, USCG and Eleanor Parker Saunders in the seaside town of Gloucester, MA.

He attended local schools, graduating from Gloucester High School where he was active in ROTC and athletics.

While attending the University of Massachusetts at Amherst MA, Lee received an appointment to the U. S. Naval Academy, Annapolis MD.

He entered the Academy in July 1951 and graduated in July 1955 as a member of the 9th Company earning a bachelor's degree in engineering.

Following graduation Lee served five years of sea duty in the US Navy, during the Cold War period and three years aboard a submarine out of Pearl Harbor, HI and Norfolk, VA.

After completing his obligated Naval service, Lee returned to MA and joined Polaroid Corporation as a manufacturing supervisor where he met his wife Nancy of 55 years.

After 20 years in manufacturing management, he and Nancy retired to Cape Cod, MA and Clearwater Beach, FL where they owned and managed income properties for 10 years. While in Florida, Lee became an avid golfer and in 1999 retired once again, this time to the Senior community of Sun City Center, FL.

When not on the golf course or practice range, Lee could be found at the wood shop, fitness center, or volunteering for community activities.

Lee was a living example of the expression "You can take the man out of the Navy, but you can't take the Navy out of the man".

He is survived by wife, Nancy, brother Lyle, sons Wesley, Brooks and daughter, Gail Allen, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
