William W. Hart Obituary

Gloucester - William Wayne "Bill" Hart, age 68, of Gloucester, MA passed away June 22nd, 2026.

Born in Gloucester MA, Bill was the son of the late William L. Hart and Virginia E. "Jean" (Dennis) Hart.

Bill attended Gloucester high school enlisting in the army right after, completing his service in 1980. He went on to begin a family and later spent his years driving truck for Farm Creek Construction and Waste Management/Hiltz.

Bill enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting all year. Starting the year on the ice chasing those damn bells, once the ice melted it was on to Wachusett for a chance at a laker then to the CT river for the anticipated smallie and cat fish trip. In the spring before striper season, he would scout for turkey whether in Gloucester, Great Barrington or anywhere in between. Once the season was over and he tagged his limit he would immediately go into striper mode.

In the summertime you could always catch him rowing out to his boat to stock the LiveWell with macs for his next fishing adventure, he made sure his family and friends all got to enjoy his passion for fishing, making sure everyone who went out on the boat got a fish and not giving up until they did. In the Fall once the boat was away, he went right into deer mode, his most loved season.

I don't think there is a family member or friend who hasn't received a care package from Bill. Greater than his love of the outdoors was his love for his family. He will be remembered for his kindness to others. Even perfect strangers, no one was safe once he struck up a conversation you were now a friend. He was like that his whole life. We will all miss receiving a "Cha Ching."

Bill is survived by his children, Sherry Thompson and her husband, David of Buxton, ME, Stephanie Hart of Gardner, MA, Brian Hart and his wife Karin of Templeton, MA, Chad Adams and his wife, Heather of Hardwick, Ma; his grandchildren, Lori Thompson-Landry and her wife, Courteney, Bradley Thompson, Aislyn Atkinson, Pacey Atkinson, Adalyn Hart, and Derrick Adams; his great-grandchild, Ryleigh Thompson, Partner Alex Sullivan; sister, Gina Hart; and niece, Jennifer Newman. He was also predeceased by his two brothers, Ralph Newman and Stanley Newman; and nephew, Shawn Newman.

Bill will be missed by his family and lifelong friends.
