Gloucester - William D. "Bill" Wall, 87, of Gloucester, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday February 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, on January 29, 1939, he was the son of the late Thomas Wall and Nellie (Rogers) Wall Conrad.
Bill was a proud graduate of Gloucester High School and served his country as a member of the National Guard. In his early years, he owned the Old Timers Tavern, where he enjoyed the friendships and conversations that came through the door. He also fished aboard the Lady Grace and spent many years with Americold, first working there for 17 years earlier in his career and later returning to retire from the company, totaling 30 years of dedicated service.
Bill was a man of few words who showed his love through his actions. He found joy in the simple things in life, playing pool, trips to the casino, traveling to New Hampshire with their close-knit group of friends, and cheering on the Boston Red Sox and attending games with his good friend Jimmy Saputo. Above all, he loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports, which meant the world to him. He also cherished his visits back home to Nova Scotia and was known for handing each grandchild a $10 bill for the Saint Peter's Fiesta, one of many small traditions that reflected his generous heart.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Grace (Aiello) Wall; daughter, Gina Stanwood; sons, William Wall III, Christopher Wall and his wife Kathryn, Jonathan Wall and his wife Lisa; grandchildren, Jamie and Erin Wall, Darren and Shawna Stanwood, Bella and Chanel Martin, Lilly Wall, Gianna and Carter Wall, Jagger and Demi Wall; great-grandchildren, Dallas and Deklan Wall, Hudson and Kingsley Stanwood; brother, Edward Wall, and his wife, Irene Wall; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas Wall and Nellie (Rogers) Wall Conrad; stepfather, Randall Conrad; his beloved children, William Wall II and Jodi Wall; brother, Carl Wall; sister-in-law, Patricia Wall; uncle Vincent, aunt Mary and cousin Johnny Saputo. He was also predeceased by his special friends, Ivanhoe Interannte and Carlo Palazolla.
Visiting hours will be held at Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, on Wednesday, March 4, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
His funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, 142 Prospect Street, Gloucester on Thursday, March 5 at 10:00 am, followed by the burial in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
